Student Merit Award
Recognizing excellent academic achievement
This award will be available for applicable classes beginning in April 2025.
As an OICC | Oxford International Career Colleges student, we want to reward you for the hard work and dedication you put into your studies. The Student Merit Award recognizes academic achievement, classroom contributions, and practicum placement performance.
The Student Merit Award grants one student per graduating class a $1,500 prize for overall best academic performance in their class. addition to the potential of receiving this award, students also get access to:

As an OICC student, there’s no limit on the number of scholarships you can qualify for, but the total scholarship amount cannot exceed the total amount of your owed program tuition. View all of our available scholarships here.
Award Details

How it Works
The Student Merit Award recipient will be selected based on a variety of nomination criteria – from academic achievement and attendance rate to classroom participation and practicum placement performance.
The Student Merit Award recipient will be announced during the program’s graduation and the award-winner will be granted an award certificate as well as a special written reference from OICC | Oxford International Career Colleges.
The $1,500 award will be applied to any outstanding program fees. If no program fees are outstanding, the award recipient will receive a refund in the amount of $1,500.
Eligibility Criteria
This award is available for domestic students (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and those of refugee status) at OICC Toronto and Halifax campuses enrolled in one of the following programs:
OICC Toronto campus:
- Personal Support Worker (in person or distance education)
- Early Childhood Assistant (hybrid)
- Home Support Worker (hybrid)
OICC Halifax campus:
- Continuing Care Assistant (in person)
- Early Childhood Education (in person)
Eligible students for nomination will have achieved:
- The highest grade point average throughout their program;
- Perfect attendance throughout their program;
- All optional and required program certifications (where applicable);
- Positive reviews and excellent feedback from practicum placement provider(s).
Terms and Conditions
As an OICC | Oxford International Career Colleges student, there is no limit on the number of scholarships you can qualify for, but the total scholarship amount cannot exceed the total amount of your owed program tuition. Scholarships are not eligible for cash back and do not represent cash value.
How to Apply
You don’t need to do a thing! Eligible students will be nominated based on their grade point average and attendance rate. Nominations will be reviewed and the Student Merit Award recipient will be selected based on additional criteria, such as level of engagement and participation during classroom discussions and positive feedback received from practicum placement provider(s).
